new year’s eve noise maker

I found a quick and easy New Year’s Eve craft to do with the girls today. I found the idea for this here. These will be perfect to take to our New Year’s Eve bowling/East Coast Countdown (since I highly doubt we will make it to midnight on the West Coast).

What you’ll need:

  • Toilet Paper or Paper Towel Rolls ( I cut the paper towel rolls in half)
  • Crayons, Markers, Stickers
  • Tissue Paper, Wax Paper
  • Rubber Bands
  • Hole Punch

Decorate the rolls however you want – we used  crayons and then switched to markers because they showed up better. We then had to add a few Princess stickers since everything’s better with Princess stickers.

Use the hole punch to punch a hole about 1 inch from the ends.

Cut a small square of your tissue or wax paper and use the rubber band to secure it over the end. The tissue paper will not last as long we learned very quickly as Stella couldn’t figure out which end to blow on and her tissue paper got wet and  she got a big hole in hers pretty quickly.

I also added names just to try to keep them separate if we can since they will be pretty good germ holders. I doubt that’s very realistic, but my intentions were good.

And there you have it! The girls had fun trying them out and learning how loud they had to make noise in order to hear the vibration and the funny noises.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2012!!!
